Warning Signs

Signs You Need Rotted Wood Fixed Now

Duncanville's heat and wet air are tough on wood outside. This is true near Duncanville Hills and Clark Road. Fascia boards, window trim, and porch posts soak up rain. They don't dry out before it rains again. This soft wood lets fungus grow fast. Many folks see a soft spot and wait. They think it just looks bad. But rot can hide under paint and siding. You can't always see it spreading.[1] If you wait, water can reach your home's frame. That turns into a much bigger job.

Common Problems

Soft Fascia and Trim

Fascia boards near the roof soak up rain. They don't dry fast in our wet air. Once soft, they crumble easily.

Porch and Deck Decay

Posts and railings sit near the ground, where water collects. Rot here can make a porch unsafe to stand on.

Window and Door Frames

Older window frames in Duncanville homes let water seep in over time. This softens the wood inside.

Siding Damage

Wood siding can hide rot behind a layer of paint. By the time you notice it, it's already spread.

Storm Related Rot

Spring hail and wind crack paint and seals. This lets water into wood that was fine before. We get more calls every storm season.

Structural Wood Parts

Beams, joists, and sill plates can rot quietly for years. Left alone, this can hurt your foundation and frame.

Proven Trust

Why Duncanville Trusts Us for Rotted Wood Repairs

My husband and I are so thankful we chose All American Foundation Repair to do our external and internal foundation repair and new drainage system. They were on time every day, and are the hardest working crew I have ever seen! The process was so much better and easier than we expected and the communication and service provided between Dave, Frank and the team was excellent! Also, before leaving they cleaned up the entire perimeter of our home and yard better than it was when they arrived! Now my eggs don’t roll off of the counter anymore and all of our doors close! Highly recommend!

Dave came to the house on time and did a thorough review and provided honest input to address our concerns. We would definitely recommend him to others. He addressed the signs of stress we are seeing with cracks in walls and tile and provided valuable input for next steps.

Dave Hall is incredibly knowledgeable about foundations. He came out and gave us an honest assessment of the situation. Turns out that the issues we're seeing in our house (doors not closing, cracks) aren't a foundation issue but a drainage issue. I'm pretty sure most other companies would have found a way to tell us we needed foundation repair.

In addition, we called Dave because of a former boss of mine at Devtek Engineering - Barry. Barry worked for years as an independent foundation assessment engineer and he recommended Dave and All American Foundation after having worked with a number of foundation repair companies.

Common Questions

Rotted Wood Replacement Questions

Here are answers to what Duncanville homeowners ask us most.

  • How much does rotted wood replacement cost?

Most jobs cost between $300 and $3,500. It depends on size and spot. Trim costs less than big beams. We give you a free written quote first.

  • How long does the repair take?

Small fixes like trim often take one day. Bigger jobs, like porch frames, can take two to three days. We'll tell you the timeline at your free check-up.

  • Can I fix rotted wood myself?

Small trim fixes might work as a DIY job. But big wood frames are different. If rot reaches the frame, a mistake can hurt your home's safety. Call a pro once rot spreads past the surface.

  • How often does wood rot in Duncanville homes?

It depends on your home's age and rain exposure. Older homes near Duncanville Hills see it more often. Check your home after storm season to catch it early.

  • How fast do I need rotted wood fixed?

It's more urgent than it looks. Rot can hide under paint and siding. Waiting even one season can turn a small fix into a big one.

  • What are the signs of rotted wood?

Look for soft or spongy spots, dark stains, or peeling paint. A musty smell is another clue. Wood that crumbles when you press it is a clear sign. Call us if you notice any of these.

  • Will new wood match my home's trim?

Yes, we match the shape and finish of your trim and siding. We want the fix to blend in, not stand out. We also seal it well to stop future rot.
